Matthew Apol (MFA Syracuse) is an artist, educator, and curator based in Lancaster, PA with his partner and their children. Having lived across SD, MI, NJ, NY, CA, and PA, he carries a sense of statelessness that shapes his understanding of what it means to belong—or not belong —somewhere. His research engages themes of labor, tribalism, violence, social engineering, and greed. This research materializes as a combination of manufactured images and material-based objects, the formal result of which is mostly displayed on walls.
